A new movie titled BELLA hits theatres October 26th, 2007. BELLA was winner of the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival. Other films such as Life is Beautiful, American Beauty, Hotel Rwanda and Chariots of Fire have won this same award and have gone on to win the Academy Award. Downtown Phoenix is home to several historic districts with amazing neighborhoods and architecture. Last weekend, a friend and I went to the Roosevelt Home Tour. For $15 dollars (or $10 if you brought some canned food donation) you can personally go inside and tour these historic homes. There were 12 homes on the tour, all within walking distance to one another, but a shuttle is provided as well. Also provided is a booklet with a photo of each home and some historical info. In addition to the 12 homes, a handful of homes for sale held open houses. We saw cottage style homes as small as 1,200 square feet and craftsman style mansions as large as 4,200 square feet. We saw homes built from 1919-1926. The price range for the homes for sale was from $575,000 to $1,695,000.

The grand opening of the SanTan Village WESTCOR Mall is Friday, October 26th, 2007. The night before there will be a firework show at 8pm in the Northwest corner of the San Tan Freeway (South Loop 202) and Williams Field Rd.
Friday, 5am-9:30am 3 TV will be LIVE and beginning a day full of prizes, live entertainment, and fashion shows. The SanTan Village officially opens for shopping at 10am and boasts 90 of the 130 retail shops and restaurants, including Dillard’s, Banana Republic, White House/Black Market, Coach, Chico’s and J. Jill.

Saturday, October 27th, 2007 is the Gilbert Family Halloween Carnival at Freestone Park. Parking is free and the fun begins at 5:00pm and ends at 9:00pm. Freestone Park can be found in the Southeast corner of Guadalupe Rd. and Lindsay Rd. in Gilbert, AZ. There will be live entertainment, a costume parade, bounce, rides, a pet costume parade, pumpkin decorating and more. Tickets are only $3 per person ages 5-Adult. You may purchase tickets at the Freestone Recreation Center at 1141 E Guadalupe St. or call 480-503-6200 for ticket information and locations.
